M. Janet Chin

M. Janet Chin is a youth advocate and is Founder/President of the M. Janet Chin Youth Foundation (MJCYF) a 501(c)3 Educational Public Charity charted in Rosemead, CA that provides Leadership, Service Learning, Volunteer, Social Service, and "low cost" After-School Academics Intervention Programs for youth and working familes. M. Janet Chin was also elected to the Garvey Board of Education in 2007 she is a U.S. Army Veteran, former actress and casting director, and has a degree in Business Production/Communications. Using techniques as a social entrepreneur, she believes that community partnerships, parent involvement, and after school programs are key to whole child success. Janet has been honored with many service awards, including Los Angeles Bilingual Directors Association Award, Congressional Women of Distinction Award, Parent Volunteer of the Year, and National Defense Medal. She is an avid volunteer in schools and community libraries and is a Neighborhood Watch Captain. Janet continues to encourage children to “take ownership of their community” and encourage parents to get involved in their child’s life long education. Her children currently attend Garvey District Schools.
